Cognitive Behavioural Therapy

A woman sitting on a sofa in a therapy session, holding her chest and looking concerned, while another woman, likely a therapist, takes notes on a clipboard.

Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) is a proven psychotherapy that helps individuals identify and change negative thought patterns and behaviours. It focuses on the connection between thoughts, feelings, and actions, aiming to improve emotional well-being. CBT is goal-oriented and commonly used to treat anxiety, depression, phobias, and PTSD.

Eye Movement Desensitisation Reprocessing

A woman with blue eyes and brown hair looks at the camera as a man, partly visible, stands in front of her. The man is raising his right hand with his index finger pointing upward.

EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing) is a therapy that helps individuals process traumatic memories using bilateral stimulation (e.g., eye movements or taps). This technique reduces the emotional intensity of distressing memories, aiding recovery from PTSD, anxiety, phobias, and emotional challenges, ultimately supporting healing and well-being.

Compassion Focused Therapy

Compassion Focused Therapy (CFT) is a therapeutic approach developed by Paul Gilbert that integrates cognitive-behavioural techniques with principles of compassion and mindfulness. The therapy aims to help individuals cultivate compassion for themselves and others as a means to alleviate psychological distress.

CFT is grounded in the understanding that many mental health issues arise from issues related to self-criticism, shame, and a lack of self-compassion.

Acceptance and Commitment Therapy

Four women praying with heads bowed and hands placed on each other's shoulders and back.

Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) is a form of psychotherapy that emphasises psychological flexibility. It combines mindfulness and behavioural change strategies to help individuals accept their thoughts and feelings rather than fighting against them. ACT encourages people to commit to personal values and take meaningful action towards living a fulfilling life, even in the presence of difficult emotions or thoughts.

Clinical Supervision

A man and a woman are sitting and talking in a modern office. The woman is holding a clipboard and pen, engaging in conversation, while the man is listening attentively. There is a large green plant, a coffee table with two cups, and shelves with folders and decor in the background.

Clinical supervision is a supportive relationship where an experienced clinician guides and mentors a less experienced clinician. It ensures high-quality care, fosters professional growth, and involves discussions on cases, ethical issues, and skill development. This process is essential for maintaining competence and well-being, benefiting both clinicians and their clients.
