Children and Adult Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder Assessments & Support

Cognitive Behavioural Therapy

A woman sitting on a sofa in a therapy session, holding her chest and looking concerned, while another woman, likely a therapist, takes notes on a clipboard.

Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) is a proven psychotherapy that helps individuals identify and change negative thought patterns and behaviours.

It focuses on the connection between thoughts, feelings, and actions, aiming to improve emotional well-being. CBT is goal-oriented and commonly used to treat anxiety, depression, phobias, and PTSD.

Eye Movement Desensitisation Reprocessing

A woman with blue eyes and brown hair looks at the camera as a man, partly visible, stands in front of her. The man is raising his right hand with his index finger pointing upward.

EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing) is a therapy that helps individuals process traumatic memories using bilateral stimulation (e.g., eye movements or taps).

This technique reduces the emotional intensity of distressing memories, aiding recovery from PTSD, anxiety, phobias, and emotional challenges, ultimately supporting healing and well-being.

Compassion Focused Therapy

Two men sitting at a table having a conversation in a well-lit cafe with large windows showing trees outside.

Compassion Focused Therapy (CFT) is a therapeutic approach developed by Paul Gilbert that integrates cognitive-behavioural techniques with principles of compassion and mindfulness. The therapy aims to help individuals cultivate compassion for themselves and others as a means to alleviate psychological distress.

CFT is grounded in the understanding that many mental health issues arise from issues related to self-criticism, shame, and a lack of self-compassion.

Acceptance and Commitment Therapy

Four women praying with heads bowed and hands placed on each other's shoulders and back.

Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) is a form of psychotherapy that emphasises psychological flexibility. It combines mindfulness and behavioural change strategies to help individuals accept their thoughts and feelings rather than fighting against them.

ACT encourages people to commit to personal values and take meaningful action towards living a fulfilling life, even in the presence of difficult emotions or thoughts.

Clinical Supervision

A man and a woman are sitting and talking in a modern office. The woman is holding a clipboard and pen, engaging in conversation, while the man is listening attentively. There is a large green plant, a coffee table with two cups, and shelves with folders and decor in the background.

Clinical supervision is a supportive relationship where an experienced clinician guides and mentors a less experienced clinician.

It ensures high-quality care, fosters professional growth, and involves discussions on cases, ethical issues, and skill development. This process is essential for maintaining competence and well-being, benefiting both clinicians and their clients.

Neurodiversity Coaching, Therapeutic sessions and Group Sessions

Neurodivergent Support – With or Without a Diagnosis

At EK Psychotherapies, we understand that everyone’s neurodivergent journey looks different.

You may already have a diagnosis of ADHD or autism. You may be waiting for an assessment, considering whether assessment is right for you, or simply recognise neurodivergent traits in yourself and want some additional support.

You do not need a formal diagnosis to access our neurodivergent support services.

We believe support should be based on your individual needs and experiences — not dependent on having a diagnostic label.

Support That Works for You

We offer a range of flexible support options for neurodivergent adults, children and young people, including:

  • Individual therapeutic sessions

  • Neurodivergent-informed coaching

  • Group support and therapeutic programmes

  • Pre-assessment support

  • Post-diagnostic support

  • Emotional regulation and wellbeing support

  • Practical strategies for everyday life

Our individual and group sessions provide a compassionate, non-judgemental space where you can better understand yourself, explore your strengths and talk openly about the things you may be finding difficult.

Depending on your needs, we can support you with areas such as emotional regulation, overwhelm, executive functioning, organisation, routines, sensory needs, relationships, communication, confidence, self-esteem and self-advocacy.

Therapy Adapted to You

For those wanting therapeutic support, our clinicians can adapt evidence-based approaches to better meet the needs of neurodivergent individuals.

Rather than expecting you to fit into a traditional model of therapy, we adapt the way we work to fit you.

Our approach is collaborative, flexible and strengths-based. We aren’t here to change who you are — we’re here to help you understand yourself, develop strategies that genuinely work for you and feel more confident navigating life in a way that feels authentic.

You Don’t Need a Diagnosis to Belong Here

We know that accessing an assessment isn’t always straightforward, and some people may choose not to pursue a formal diagnosis at all.

That should never be a barrier to receiving support.

Whether you’re diagnosed, self-identifying, questioning, awaiting assessment or supporting a neurodivergent child or young person, we’ll meet you where you are.

You don’t have to figure it all out alone. We’re here to support you in a way that works with your brain, your needs and your life.
